This is the first installment of Frémont's Memoirs of My Life. It was first printed by Bedford, Clark & Company of Chicago and sold in 10 parts "issued semi-monthly; 50 cents per part." This is part "Part 1" and dated "September 1, 1886." It consists of 5 sewn signatures and the related plates in printed paper wrappers. When the subscriber had received the full ten parts of the book, he would ordinarily take it to a book binder. This set of ten parts was never bound. The publisher followed with complete bound copies in several styles of binding.
